At UNIFEM the group met with Felix Rusake, Program Director. We quickly found a like mind in a shared belief that entrprenuerism and business ownership are incredible forces toward the empowerment of women. Felix was very curious about the business potential of the knitting project as well as Bpeace’s ability to contribute to business training. The result? A potential new receipient for 40 knitting machines, distributed to UNIFEM’s training center in Gitarama. UNIFEM has made an investment in this facility including space, telecommunications, high speed Internet access (!) and accommodation for visiting trainees from the surrounding rural areas. The center could be used for both knitting and non-knitting business training. We agreed that some of us will head to Gitarama with Felix on Thursday to see the facility and on Sunday we will meet to discuss next steps.

It's amazing how many doors open by just talking to people and listening to them. I'm so happy that the hours of meeting with people and orgs are really going to evolve into concrete accomplishments. How wonderful! I can't wait to see the photos.
